Following a nationwide search, the Cal Poly Corporation has named Cody Van Dorn as its next chief executive officer. He will assume this new role on Aug. 1.
VanDorn comes to the Corporation after serving as the executive director of Strategic Business Services at Cal Poly for the last four years. During that time, he led teams at Cal Poly and from across the CSU – in creating innovative strategies to engage in strategic sourcing, streamline operations, drive cost savings and develop impactful revenue partnerships.
Recently he has served in a leadership role with the CSU 23C Strategic Sourcing Plan which has been acknowledged for generating more than $100 million in benefits since 2018.
VanDorn was selected after a nationwide search facilitated by the executive search firm of Isaacson Miller.
With more than 15 years of experience as an innovator and private entrepreneur, VanDorn has also held leadership roles in higher education and government. Before coming to Cal Poly, he worked as an administrator for the County of San Luis Obispo for four years.
VanDorn takes over the position following the retirement of Lorlie Leetham who held the CEO role since 2014. Leetham retired after a 21-year career at Cal Poly.
