Our Current Projects

Over a 10-year period Cal Poly Partners will spend in excess of $100 million to create a better student experience with improvements to university buildings and infrastructure. The most recent of these projects include further increasing access to on trend dining options and creating more faculty and staff housing.

Vista Meadows

Designed to create a faculty and staff community closely connected with campus, Vista Meadows on the corner of Slack Street and Grand Avenue will include 33 single family units. When completed the units will include stand alone homes surrounded by open spaces that offer a sense of community and connectivity. The first units are scheduled to be complete and available by 2025. All units will be available to faculty and staff to buy.

Research Parks

Swanton Pacific Ranch Restoration

The CZU Lightning Complex fires swept through Swanton Pacific Ranch in August 2020, destroying much of the ranch and its structures. Many important structures, including the Al Smith House, Seaside School House were destroyed. All staff and students were able to evacuate safely. Work is currently being done to construct temporary housing and create a master plan. A ranch revisioning exercise is ongoing.

Technology Park Expansion

Cal Poly broke ground on a 16,200-square-foot expansion of the Technology Park in 2023. The expanded facility will increase collaboration between the university and industry and enhance the ability of park tenants to draw from the expertise of faculty and students. It will also provide space for faculty startups and opportunities for Cal Poly entrepreneurial faculty to engage in sponsored research and development activities with companies in the Tech Park.

Bartleson Ranch

In 2015, Stu and Jan Bartleson gave their 450-acre avocado and lemon ranch in southern San Luis Obispo County to Cal Poly’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, one of the largest private land gifts in Cal Poly’s history. The Bartlesons’ gift, valued at $11.3 million, added a combined 235 acres to Cal Poly’s previous 11 acres of lemon trees and 15 acres of avocado trees.

Tennis Clubhouse

Cal Poly is creating a tennis clubhouse that will serve as a coach’s office space, student athlete study and collaborative area, as well as alumni engagement for tennis matches and events for the men’s and women’s tennis teams.

Our Completed Projects

From the complete teardown and rebuild of the Vista Grande Dining Complex to making the largest donation in its 80-year history to aid in the construction of the William and Linda Frost Center for Research and Innovation, Cal Poly Partners is dedicated to our campus community.

Mustang Golf Academy

Located just a few minutes north of the Cal Poly campus off of Highway 1, the Mustang Golf Academy is home to Cal Poly men’s and women’s golf, and is one of the finest golf practice centers anywhere. In all, there are five practice tees, four green-side bunkers, two fairway bunkers and three chipping/putting green areas.

1901 Marketplace

Building 19, the campus’ primary food service and production facility, underwent a major renovation to create a student-centric dining facility that will complement a planned update of the University Union. Construction on the renamed 1901 Marketplace modernized foodservice and improved the overall student experience by increasing campus connectivity.

Vista Grande Dining Complex

Completed in fall 2020, the Vista Grande Dining Complex offers three-stories of indoor and outdoor seating, six unique dining venues, lounge space and game tables. All of these amenities are housed in a modern building that boasts LEED Gold certification for sustainable, resource-efficient design. The six nutrition-focused restaurants provide fresh, healthy, made-to-order food options for all diets, lifestyles and busy student schedules.

 

Mustang Shop Remodel

The update and remodel of the Mustang Shop was a project in line with the larger University Union Neighborhood Masterplan that aims to create a more student-focused campus center. The remodel included the relocation of the store front, as well as upgrades to the exterior facade and reimagined awnings. Interior changes include a relocation of the point-of-sale counters, an updated technology center, and a dedicated flex space available for student use.

 

Scout Coffee Co.

Locally-owned Scout Coffee Co. brings their scratch-made pastries and craft-roasted coffee to a new location next to the Welcome Center in yakʔitʸutʸu. Scout offers their award-winning HoneyCo Coffee Roasters coffee as well as an extensive menu of fresh baked pastries and more. The corporation completed tenant improvements to create a space that serves as a gathering spot for all campus residents and visitors to grab a quick coffee and pastry on the way to class or before joining a tour of the campus.

Volleyball Clubhouse

The Beach House at the Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex provides the Cal Poly beach volleyball student-athletes with their own place to study, watch film to prepare for upcoming matches, fueling and nutrition station, and a place to hang out and bond as a team. It is also home to the head and assistant coach offices.
