SAN LUIS OBISPO – University Catering has received national recognition, winning the Silver award in the ‘Catering – Special Event’ category of the 2016 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards contest for its 2015 Evening of Green & Gold event.
Campus Dining’s NACUFS submission highlighted the event’s “farm to table” theme, emphasizing Cal Poly’s unique connection to agriculture. The Green and Gold Gala is the university’s largest event of the year, showcasing the best of what Cal Poly has to offer, from the food to student exhibits.
The contest is organized by the National College and University Food Service Association (NACUFS). In college and university culinary arts, the ultimate professional tribute is a NACUFS Loyal E. Horton Dining Award. Named for a NACUFS founder, past president and highly regarded innovator, the Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards celebrate exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts, and provide an avenue for sharing ideas and creative presentations in campus dining services
