Something is sizzling in Poly Canyon Village (PCV), and it isn’t just the heat. Tacos To-Go, the on-campus Mexican cuisine cart, has expanded to a dine-in sized restaurant found in the heart of PCV, offering more options and more elbowroom.
Though Tacos To-Go has technically been open to the public since this past Sunday at 5 p.m. when the meal plan went into action, the official grand opening is planned for this Thursday.

Did you spend a little too much on gifts for your mom, go on a few too many coffee dates or spend more than expected on a weekend skiing trip this winter break? The holidays probably left a few of you feeling strapped for cash, so here are some easy tips to earn a little extra money.
1. Start off by selling your textbooks back to the University Store, previously known as El Corral Bookstore. The store is set to buy textbooks this Monday through Friday.

How to make a buck after the holidays

As students file back into classes, fresh from a winter break rife with gifts, various new tablets and e-readers can be spotted all throughout Cal Poly, leaving envious students in their wake. Those jealous of fellow students sporting brand new tablets and more can quickly fix the problem though — all without breaking the bank by making the commitment of spending $350 or more on a technology that is constantly becoming outdated.
Cal Poly students may now rent out a Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet for an entire quarter for $99 from the University Store. The first electronic device made available to rent through the bookstore comes with a “buyout” option, and aims to save students money on textbooks by providing a large quantity of e-books at 60 percent off the publisher’s price, according to University Store computer department manager Preston Sirois.

University Store offering new tablet rental

The controversial ordinance regarding the distribution of single-use bags in stores will go into effect in San Luis Obispo County on Oct. 1.
The ordinance is meant to extensively reduce plastic bag usage without becoming a complete inconvenience to shoppers. Plastic bags handed out in any retail establishment will be illegal, and while paper bags are not strictly banned, stores must charge a fee if the customer asks to use paper bags. The fee may be determined by the particular store, but must be at least 10 cents. Furthermore, the ordinance mandates that stores sell reusable bags for the customers’ convenience.

Paper or Plastic?

Students returning to Cal Poly this quarter will notice some drastic changes in stores around campus.
Both the University Store — formerly El Corral Bookstore — and Vista Grande Café got face-lifts, in response to requests from students and a desire to make the locations more friendly.
“We try to be really responsive to what the students are asking for,” saidCal Poly Corporation marketing and public relations director Yukie Nishinaga.

Cal Poly Corporation shakes up shopping, food

Students who dream of leaving a lasting mark on Cal Poly’s campus, or owning a Vespa, will have their chance through Cal Poly Corporation’s contest to pick a new name for El Corral Bookstore.
El Corral, originally named for the horse corrals on campus, has now shifted its purpose. The corporation is looking for a name to reflect that, according to interim director of El Corral Philip Davis.
