Cal Poly Downtown has been selected to receive the association’s Tenant Improvements: Interior Award for the substantial improvements made to its store interior. The Cal Poly retailer relocated in December to a larger site at 767 Higuera, gaining an additional 1,300 square feet of space in the move.
Spearheaded by Cal Poly University Store Director Frank Cawley, the new Cal Poly Downtown was designed by Jeff Grant, who has designed several other high-profile retail spaces including the stadium store for the San Jose Sharks and San Francisco Zoo’s gift shop. The new store is outfitted with contemporary fixtures, materials and lighting. It also features stainless steel and natural stone materials, creating a modern, industrial atmosphere.
“We are delighted that our new location is being recognized by the Downtown Association,” said Lorlie Leetham, executive director of the Cal Poly Corporation and associate vice president of commercial services. “Our goal is to provide customers with a welcoming retail experience that promotes Cal Poly pride throughout downtown and the local community.”
Cal Poly Downtown will receive its award at the Downtown Association’s Beautification Awards social on Wednesday, March 1 at the SLO HotHouse.
