SAN LUIS OBISPO — Executive Chef Chris Dunham from Cal Poly Corporation Campus Dining, will compete in the Burgers and Beer fundraiser Sunday, Sept. 6 at the Loading Chute in Creston, Calif. The event, sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County California Women for Agriculture, will benefit CWA 4-H, Future Farmer’s of America and collegiate scholarship funds. The event starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.
Chef Dunham, in partnership with Cal Poly’s College of Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences, will feature beef from Cal Poly. He is entering two burgers into the competition, a first for the event, a new Umami Burger and a classic Bacon Cheese Burger.
“I’m really excited to compete in this event,” said Chef Dunham. “Our Burger Bar is renowned on campus for its delicious burgers and I’m happy to give Central Coast residents a taste of Cal Poly life.”
The event will feature brew masters and burger stations around the barn and gardens with live music. At each of the stations, Chefs will offer samples of their burgers for attendees and judges to taste and vote on. Local celebrities will judge and award their Central Coast wins and favorites. Guests will also have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award for best Central Coast Burger and Micro-brew, as well as the best of show award.
